Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2, 2026
BrowserTools is built on a simple principle: your data is yours. This policy explains what we collect, what we do not collect, and how advertising works on this site.
What we do not collect
The vast majority of BrowserTools tools run entirely inside your browser. Files you open, text you paste, and values you type into converters, validators, generators, and calculators never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. We have no access to that information and we do not store it.
We do not require you to create an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information to use the tools.
Server-side tools
A small number of tools (DNS lookup, WHOIS, port check, SSL check, HTTP headers check, IP information and the currency converter) require a server to perform their function. When you use them, the domain name, URL or IP address you query is sent to our backend to fetch the result. These requests are rate-limited and not logged in any identifiable way. We do not store your IP address alongside your queries beyond what is strictly necessary for rate limiting, and that temporary data is not shared with third parties.
Cookies and local storage
The tools themselves set no cookies. Some tools remember your preferences or your own data (for example your notes, a list of options or a chosen setting) in your browser's local storage. That data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time from your browser settings.
The only cookies on this site are set by Google AdSense and Google Analytics (see below). We do not set tracking or profiling cookies of our own.
Advertising, Google AdSense
This site is supported by advertising provided by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies and similar technologies to show you personalised advertisements based on your browsing activity and interests across websites. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings or by using the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool.
Advertisements are displayed in clearly marked areas. We do not place ads inside tool interfaces, use pop-ups, interstitials, or autoplay video advertising.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns: which tools are most used, which pages are visited and how visitors navigate the site. This data is used in aggregate and not to build individual user profiles. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
Third-party links
Some tool pages may link to external resources for reference. BrowserTools is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
Children's privacy
BrowserTools is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was most recently revised. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
